- Checking the form and use of grammatical structures
There are books
where grammatical structures are not explained in a suitable way or
are not relevant for the topic. Thus, it is important to look for other
reference sources in order to complete the grammatical content.
In some cases, even we as
teachers have problems in spelling, pronunciation and lexical items because we
are not exposed to every word all the time. Then, it is useful to check bilingual
dictionaries because they have different meanings and pronunciations in both languages; and others such as dictionaries of synonyms and antonyms for knowledge
expansion.
- Anticipating learners´ difficulties
Since there are case
studies, books or articles about learner´s errors, those are really helpful to anticipate (know previously) what will
be their language problems, for instance, the interference of L1. It
means the pronunciation in Spanish has no strong stress, which makes
interference at the moment to read a sentence in English without rhythm, stress
and intonation.
